Music
From “Hot Cross Buns” to classroom favorites, students learn rhythm, patterns, and melody by performing with the robot. Music becomes a doorway to pattern recognition, timing, and teamwork.

BoomBot is an educational, percussive robot that plays Boomwhackers to introduce the creative intersection of music and robotics. Designed to be welcoming, durable, and kid‑friendly, BoomBot invites students to pick up an instrument, play along, and discover STEAM through rhythm.
Title I or STEM magnet, small groups or assemblies—BoomBot adapts to meet students where they are and turns curiosity into confidence.
BoomBot is a hands‑on learning experience built around a percussive robot and entry‑level instruments called Boomwhackers. Students meet a friendly, expressive robot, learn rhythms and melodies, and peek under the hood at circuits, microcontrollers, and code. It’s simple on purpose—so kids can touch, play, and learn without fear.

Every session blends Music (confidence & expression), Robotics (curiosity & problem‑solving), and Community (access & inclusion). The goal: make STEAM feel human, joyful, and fun for everyone.
From “Hot Cross Buns” to classroom favorites, students learn rhythm, patterns, and melody by performing with the robot. Music becomes a doorway to pattern recognition, timing, and teamwork.

Behind the beats: microcontrollers, sensors, and servos. Students see how inputs become motion and sound—then try it themselves, safely and simply.

Partnering with elementary schools, local libraries, and organizations like SEWA, BoomBot brings STEAM experiences to Title I schools and diverse communities—because accessibility matters.
As the project grows, so do the smiles and skills. Creating an environment of confidence and curiosity is of upmost importance.
How can a robot that plays music with students reshape the way young learners see robots—from fixed, mechanical machines to interactive, creative partners? The journey since has been equal parts persistence, prototyping, and play.

Differing diameters, surface materials, and a lot of trial‑and‑error. The goal: strike Boomwhackers with consistent tone.

Microcontrollers, servo control, and bringing BoomBot to life
Automated songs, reliable controller, gauging student response

Implementing mentor advice, partnering with local schools and service orgs to expand reach. Kit‑style materials and lesson plans make visits easy and repeatable.

Ideal group size: ~7 students per mini‑block for a personal, hands‑on experience. Worksheets and other materials included
"What excites me most about BoomBot is that I can already see its potential to make a real difference in people’s lives.”
